Applanation tonometry

In applanation tonometry the intraocular pressure (IOP) is inferred from the force required to flatten (applanate) a constant area of the cornea for the  Imbert Fick law.

Goldmann tonometry is considered to be the gold standard IOP test and is the most widely accepted method. A special disinfected prism is mounted on the tonometer head and then placed against the cornea. The examiner then uses a cobalt blue filter to view two green semi circles. The force applied to the tonometer head is then adjusted using a dial connected to a variable tension spring until the inner edges of the green semicircles in the viewfinder meet.

Corneal pachymetry is the process of measuring the thickness of the cornea. A pachymeter is a device used to measure the thickness of the eye’s cornea. It is used to perform corneal pachymetry prior to refractive surgery, forscreening of Keratoconus, LRI surgery and is useful in screening for patients suspected of developing glaucoma among other uses.

Gonioscopy is a type of eye examination performed to check the internal structures of the eyes esp. the angle of the eye. Its goal is to thoroughly evaluate eye health and properly diagnose eye diseases such as glaucoma, which is the second leading cause of blindness.

OCT for Optic Nerve Assessment

It gives the thickness of Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer and ONH, thus helping in early diagnosis and follow up of Glaucoma

It helps in the evaluation of treatment effectiveness in various Neural and Brain conditions

Automated Perimetry

A visual field test is an eye examination that can detect dysfunction in central and peripheral vision which may be caused by various medical conditions such as glaucoma, stroke, pituitary diseases, brain tumours or other neurological deficits.

Automated perimetry uses a mobile stimulus moved by a perimetry machine. The patient indicates whether he sees the light by pushing a button. The use of a white background and lights of incremental brightness is called "white-on-white" perimetry
